Bobby Ray Pennington, Sr. 67, of Cowarts passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at a local hospital.


Funeral services will be held 2 pm Monday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sharon Green officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3pm until 5pm Sunday.


Mr. Pennington was born February 23, 1946 in Pike County Kentucky and lived the early years of his life there. He moved to Houston County in 1961 and resided most of his life in Cowarts. Mr. Pennington was employed with Qualico Steel for over twenty years and at the time of his death he was structural steel foreman. Mr. Pennington enjoyed fishing and time with his family. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Pennington and Charles Pennington.


Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Bowen Pennington; his sons, Bobby Ray (Rene) Pennington, Jr., Frank J. Pennington; his grandchildren, Eric Pennington, Michelle Pennington; step grandchildren, Nathan (Karen) Childers, Corey Childers; his great-grandchildren, Aiden, Leilah, Elijah and Audrey; his brothers, Buddy Pennington, Scott Pennington, Max Rowe and Marvin Rowe; his sisters, Faye Stamper, Frankie Stamper and Ruth Stamper; several nieces and nephews.
