Mrs. Bonita Veronica Knowles Bowers of County Road 661, Coffee Springs, Alabama went home to be with her heavenly Father Saturday, April 12, 2014.  She was 60.


 


Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Dr. James Preachers, Rev. Randall Pearson and Rev. Sam Totten officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, April 14, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m.


 


Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation.


 


Bonita was born April 30, 1953, in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Hollis D. and Iris L. Preachers Knowles.  She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  She enjoyed meeting and making new friends and thoroughly enjoyed her job while working at Peebles.  She had a personality that drew you to her. Everyone who met her immediately loved her and she in return loved them as well.  Bonita was a member of Ino Baptist Church.


 


In addition to her parents, both fathers of her children, Michael Sheffield and David Dean, a brother, Eddie Knowles, son-in-law, Trey Seay, as well as a father-in-law, Bobby Sheffield, all preceded her in death.


 


Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Jerry Roger Bowers, Coffee Springs; two daughters: Stephanie (Jason) Adams, Enterprise, and Nicole Dean (Hannah McLeaish), Pensacola; one son, Stephen (Nichole) Sheffield, Coffee Springs; one step son, Shannon Bowers, Dothan; one sister, Charlotte Driggers, Samson; four brothers: Hollis Ray Knowles, Samson, William Knowles, Daleville, Edwin “Red”  (Gladys) Knowles, Samson, and her twin brother, Brian Knowles, also of Samson; special mother-in-law, Leala Sheffield, Cordele, GA; special sister-in-law, Rosie Knowles, Samson; special cousin, Earl Gene (Judy) Thomas, Avon Park, FL; one uncle, Reubin (Dorothy) Preachers, Samson; 12 grandchildren; former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Sheffield; several special nieces, nephews, other extended family and a host of friends which includes her special canine friend, Scooby.


 


The family would like to say a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice, Covenant Hospice and also a very special nurse that was her caregiver for the past year, Desiree Bowers Wells, for the compassionate care that was extended to their loved one.
