“Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person.”
Bradley Darren Floyd passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021, after a lifetime of jumping into any occasion to help others. His family will gather to celebrate Brad’s generous soul and share memories during a visitation on Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 3-5 PM at Sunset Funeral Home. Casual attire is encouraged (blue jeans and Bama caps)– just like Brad would expect.
Brad was born in Dothan, Alabama, on August 25, 1971, to Jimmy and Joyce Floyd. He grew up as a country boy in the Wiregrass Area – the younger brother to Jody and Keith. He loved to hunt and fish and tag along with– sometimes even “pester”- his older brothers. To keep him at bay, Brad sometimes found himself taped up to a fence post- allowing his older brothers time away from baby brother Brad.
As Brad matured, he found a passion for hard work and good fun. He excelled in construction especially maneuvering a front-end loader, but he was also always ready to relax, keeping his fishing rods handy in his truck – always a Chevy (black or blue) – and never a F.O.R.D. (interpretation varies according to his mood and company around him). “Work hard, yet play hard” was Brad’s life. His passions included his Blue & White Suzuki GXR 1000 motorcycle, drag racing with his brother in that 81 Camaro Z-28 at Cottonwood Dragway, hunting deer, looking for arrowheads, and fishing in any waterhole that caught his eye.
Although Brad loved hunting and fishing, he never ate fish or deer. He was known for his love of beef tips and mashed potatoes along with Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew – of course finished off with a good ole’ Marlboro Light. One thing was for sure – every morning had to start off with a pan of cinnamon rolls.
Throughout Brad’s adventurous life, he would drop whatever hard work or hard fun he was engaged with to help his family or anyone else in need. If he knew about it, or was asked for something – he was there to fix it or help however he could. His hard work is now done and he is playing hard in Heaven with Jesus, his father Jimmy, and his grandparents.
The rest of his family remain to cherish the memories of “B-Ham,” “G-Daddy,” “Uncle B”: his mother, Joyce York; his children, Bradley Jr., Brittany, and Samantha; 6 grandchildren; his brothers, Jody Sheffield and Keith Sheffield; his special niece Sierra; his chihuahua Sadie; and the love of his life, Rhonda Davidson. Numerous relatives, friends, and co-workers will also miss his zest for life and adventurous energy.
