Branden was born to Michael and Wendy Henderson Chancey on July 9, 2002, and almost immediately rushed to a Boston hospital where he was not expected to survive. He defied odds then and continued to do so until finally becoming so weary that he could no longer continue. He will forever be an inspiration to friends he made throughout his valiant fight against numerous health issues. Lacking a complete physical heart, his emotional heart was gigantic. Simply put--Branden loved everyone. Though barely able to walk and unable to speak, his handicaps never dulled his broad smile and amazing sense of humor. He enjoyed watching television, playing on his electronic devices, listening to music, spending time with family, and enjoying his dog, Molly. To his final minute, Branden’s bright personality never dimmed.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Wanda Hawkins Mathis.
In addition to his parents, survivors include sisters, Ashley Chancey of Little Rock, AR, and Casey Chancey of Deatsville; grandparents John A. and Norma Chancey, Ken and Rea Henderson, all of Dothan; and numerous extended family members also survive.
The Chancey family expresses its deepest appreciation to Dothan Pediatric Clinic and Children’s Hospital of Alabama for their loving and dedicated care of Branden. While all are equally appreciated, special thanks are given to Dr. Kenneth Brown who treated Branden for most of his years.
