Obituary: Braxton Cole Tate
Braxton Cole Tate, age 13, of Hartford, Alabama joined our heavenly Father on July 2, 2024. Braxton was born on April 22, 2011, to Derrick and Ashley Tate.
Braxton loved being with his brother and best friend Dylan, hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He was passionate about sports and enjoyed his time on the baseball and football fields with his teammates. His love for sports and the outdoors allowed him to form many lasting friendships and memories. Braxton was quick witted and could out smart any adult. His laugh was contagious, and he could light up a room with his sense of humor. Braxton gave everything one hundred percent and lived each day to the fullest. He loved life and found joy in helping others.
Braxton was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Earl Peterson, Delbert Brown, Grace Brown, Alvin Tate, Robert Hatfield, and Asa Matthews.
Braxton is survived by his parents Derrick and Ashley Tate, and his brother Dylan Tate. Surviving grandparents include Dennis and Sherrie Tate, Dennis and Teresa Culbreth, and Ricky and Shelia Hatfield; great grandparents Evelyn Peterson, Bernice Tate, Jessie Hatfield, and Patricia Culbreth; uncles Adam Hatfield (Zoia), Trey Tate, and Justin Culbreth; first cousins David Hatfield and Thomas Tate, and a host of very close aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Hartford, Alabama with Pastor Stacy Stafford officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Interment will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, from 12:00 noon until service time.
Pallbearers are Dylan Tate, Brent Williford, Luke Peterson, Drew Duncan, Caden Hutchings, Connor Childs, Brayden West and Brandon Barnes. Honorary pallbearers include Geneva County JV and Varsity football players, JV and Varsity baseball players, Junior High basketball players, the 8th grade class, coaches, and special friends: Jaimeson Strickland, Logan Ford, William Kelly, Brayden Tate, Ayden Duke, Parker Watson, Lawson Hutchings, Jase Turner, and Brannon Turner.
A special scripture written in Braxton’s catcher’s mitt and fielding glove is Deuteronomy 31:6,” Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you”.
