HEADLAND. . .Brenda Shelley McCullough, a resident of Headland, died Monday morning, April 25, 2022, at her home. She was 74.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 27, 2022, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend George Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Brenda McCullough was born and reared in the Tumbleton Community of Henry County, daughter of the late Herman Shelley and Maggie Ila Baker Shelley. She attended Newville High School. Brenda lived in the Camp Springs community, near Columbia, before moving to Headland in 2019. She was of the Assembly of God faith. Brenda was retired as the owner and operator of B & B Grocery in the Wills Crossroads community, near Abbeville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benny McCullough, a son, Phillip Wayne Smothers, a sister, Linda Spencer and two brothers, Mickey Shelley and Ray Shelley.
Surviving relatives include two sons, David Smothers and Jeff Smothers, both of Headland; a step-daughter, Amanda McCullough Brackin; a sister-in-law, Brenda Brown Shelley, Ozark; five grandchildren, Tiffany Smothers, Amber Vandegrift (Justin), Ashley Smothers, Norman Newsome (Ellana), and Corey Paxton; several great-grandchildren.
