Born August 9, 1965 to Huey G. and Sarah Cox, Buddy Lee Cox gave his all as he went toe-to-toe, facing the fact that he knew that he would lose the best fight and the last battle of his life, but still knowing the outcome of this battle. Buddy only could do what he embedded in his children and that was to give it your all, no matter what life comes at you with. Buddy was at war for a long time fighting with congestive heart failure. On Saturday, April 17, 2021, only we can imagine what our family and friend experienced. He for sure will tell us about that Saturday. Buddy peacefully walked ahead of us only to see us all again as he smiled from a well familiar face. Buddy peacefully gave up his home, Ozark, Alabama for a better one.

Buddy was a hardworking man, until his sickness took over forcing him to stay home. Buddy enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years. He also enjoyed playing in pool tournaments as well as darts. He also was able to enjoy playing pool with a friend, Lee Wheeler. When sickness was getting to him, Buddy also loved riding motorcycles, and 18 wheelers and going fishing any chance he got. He also loved spending time with his family (90% of the time fishing) especially with his grandboys.

Buddy was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Williams Cox of Ariton, his father, Huey G. Cox of Clio, Alabama, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Buddy is survived by his girlfriend, Teresa McGehee of Ozark; his daughter, Shannon (Theo) Dowling, of Ozark; his son, Steven (Alycia) Cox, of Ozark; his grandboys, Kenneth, Dallas, Noah, and Mason; his stepmother, Cathryn Cox, of Ozark; his brothers, Johnny Cox, Ozark, Jeffery (Kimberly) Cox, of Prattville, John (Susan) Robinson, of Ozark, and Keith (Pat) Robinson, of Ozark; his sisters, Wanda (Phillip) Snell, of Ozark, Vicky Napper, of Ozark, Allison (Mike) Clark, of Tennessee; and several great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins also survive.

Buddy was a loving Dad and Paw Paw and will be missed by many.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Wednesday evening in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. At all other times, the family will be at the home of John and Brandy Williams, 1121 Deese Rd., Ozark, AL 36360.
