HEADLAND…Bunch Roney Armstrong, a resident of Headland, died late Tuesday morning, February 17, 2015. She was 89.


            Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Thursday, February 19, 2015, in the Hebron Baptist Church, between Headland and Columbia, with Reverend Mark Brantley and Reverend Ted Forrester officiating and a eulogy to be given by Reverend Sam White. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Holman-Headland Mortuary directing. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Butch Glover, 6952 State Highway 134 East, Columbia, Alabama 36319 or to a favorite charity.


            Mrs. Armstrong was born in Henry County, near Tumbleton, daughter of the late Arthur Wilburn Roney and Lessie McKnight Roney. At an early age, she moved with her family to Abbeville and was a 1942 graduate of Abbeville High School. Later, Mrs. Armstrong moved to the Hebron Community where she lived for the remainder of her lifetime. She was a graduate of the practical nursing program at Wallace Community College and later became a Licensed Practical Nurse.  Mrs. Armstrong retired from the Henry County Nursing Home, and in earlier years was employed by the Henry County Hospital. She was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church. Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Lenwood Armstrong and three sisters, Wynell Roney Howell, Doris Dykes, and Dutchie Abernathy.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Judy Fieg (John), Headland; a son, Jerry Armstrong, Midland City; four grandchildren, Patrick Fieg, Laura Smoak, Leslie Jordan and Cliff Armstrong; and several great-grandchildren.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be David Baxley, Brian Savelle, Dale Armstrong, Andy Armstrong, Jim Smith, Rex Granberry, Leonard Fagerstrom and Bill Bush.
