BYRON  ALEXANDER  MONEY,  SR.

 

HALEBURG. . .Byron Alexander Money, Sr., a former resident of Haleburg, died late Tuesday night, March 6, 2012, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility in Abbeville. He was 93.

 

            Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday, March 9, 2012, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Coley M. Holloway officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery, Hartford Highway, Dothan. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Abbeville.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Haleburg Baptist Church, c/o Sara Pitchford, 3108 County Road 112, Columbia, AL. 36319.

 

            Mr. Money was a lifelong resident of Haleburg, son of the late Otis Money and Retta Louise Holley Money. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. Money was a retired farmer and a member of the Haleburg Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Byron Alexander Money, Jr., two sisters, Patsy Hix and Fauvette Carter. 

 

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Thelma Williams Money, a resident of the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility, formerly of Haleburg; a daughter, Jeanette Money Johnson and husband, Greg, Haleburg; two sons, Ray Money and wife, Marsha, Abbeville; and Loyd Money, Newville; a sister, Beatrice Bristow and husband, Elbert, Haleburg; three brothers, B. C. Money and Frank Money, both of Haleburg; James Otis Money and wife, Betty Margaret, Columbia; eight grandchildren, Kim Barefoot, Josh Money (Christian), Alex Johnson, Cassie Johnson, Misty Cobb (Donny), Mandy Mann, Christi Knighton (Calvin), and Mitch Money; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

 

            Serving as active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Josh Money, Alex Johnson, Mitch Money and his nephews.
