DOTHAN. . .Byron Douglas Johnson, a resident of Dothan, died Friday morning, September 8, 2017, at his home. He was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 10, 2017, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in the Sylvan Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, near Midland City. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M Sunday at the mortuary in Headland.
Mr. Johnson was born in Georgia and was reared in various locations while his father served in the U.S. Army. He was the son of the late Doll Lee Johnson and Helen Louise Preston Johnson. Mr. Johnson retired from the U. S. Army with the rank of Staff Sergeant and served his country during the Vietnam War. After retirement from the military, he was employed by Katz Automotive and the Dothan City School System in maintenance. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Holton Johnson.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Marina Holton Anglin, Dothan; two grandsons, David Myers (Heather), and Timothy Myers (Kristin); five great-grandchildren, Landon Myers, Ziva Myers, Isabella Myers, Peyton Myers and Kameron Myers.
