Mr. Narcisse was born March 1, 1931 to Beldon and Ethel Narcisse in Franklin, Louisiana where he lived the early part of his life as one of six children. He attended college at City University of New York and later he enlisted in the U. S. Army. He married Augusta R. McSwain, a native of Dothan, in 1956 and together they raised two daughters, Robbie and Calvinetta. While serving in the Army as a communication specialist Mr. Narcisse served in the Vietnam War and stationed in Germany, Arizona, Korea, the Philippines and Ft. Rucker. He received several honors including the National Defense Service Medal; the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; the Vietnam Service Medal; and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation.
Mr. Narcisse retired from the Army in 1976 and was employed with the U.S. Civil Service until 1981. He and his wife moved to Dothan in 1982 where he was employed by the City of Dothan’s Waterworks Department as an electronics technician until he retired in 1996. He was a member of the Arizona Lions Club and the Asbury United Methodist Church.
Mr. Narcisse especially loved piloting single-engine planes and spent hours growing plants, tinkering with cars and fixing up houses. He enjoyed long-distance driving and cooking, but best of all he loved children, his music and being of service to anyone who needed his help.
