HEADLAND. . .Calvin Byrd Stephenson, a resident of Headland, died Thursday morning, May 4, 2017, in the Azalea Court Assisted Living in Headland. He was 93.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 6, 2017, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Norman C. Simmons officiating. Entombment will be in the Gardens of Memory mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Headland “Food Bank”, 301 East Church Street, Headland, AL 36345.
Mr. Stephenson was born in the Hebron Community of Henry County and was reared near Columbia, son of the late Robert Martin Stephenson and Nettie Burnham Stephenson. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Stephenson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland. He was retired from Williams Pontiac-Cadillac as a salesman. After his retirement, Mr. Stephenson was employed by Headland & Abbeville Mortuaries, Inc. as a part time funeral director. He formerly lived in Columbus for twenty years but lived in the Dothan and Headland area most of his adult lifetime. Mr. Stephenson was preceded in death by a son, Jerald Bruce Stephenson, and four brothers, Alford Stephenson, Robert Stephenson, Rufus Stephenson and Wilford Stephenson.
Surviving are his wife, Marie Dykes Stephenson, Headland.
