Carlette Powell Butler

The year of 1966 was full of historical events, so it was only fitting that the Lord would bless the world on January 29, 1966, with his precious child, Carlette Powell Butler.

Graveside services will be held jointly with her daughter, Ashley Butler, at 2 pm on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 in Sunset Memorial Park with Pastor Catherine Newman officiating. The family will receive friends in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday from 1-2 pm.

Ms. Butler was born in Abbeville, Alabama to Lola Mae Powell and Jack Powell (both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Lorenzo Powell).

Ms. Butler transcended from Earth on August 9, 2021. She gave her life to Christ and was a member of Saint Peter Baptist Church, Abbeville, Alabama.

Ms. Butler was one of the kindest persons to walk on Earth. Ms. Butler loved spending time with her family and above all things, she loved to help others.

Ms. Butler was more than gracious when it came to giving. She would give the shirt off her back to anyone. Ms. Butler never met a stranger and was loved by all whom encountered her warm, loving, and gentle spirit. Ms. Butler enjoyed traveling. She spent portions of her life in Germany, Virginia, and Louisiana.

Ms. Butler’s memory will forever be cherished by her children: Vakeela Brown(Adrian), Ashley Butler, and Aaliyah Butler. Her siblings: Angela(Bernard) Bishop, Derrick(Crystal) Powell and Roger Powell.

Her Legacy will be sustained by her beloved grandchildren, Adrian Tyler Brown and Gabrielle Alyse Brown.

Others who count it a blessing to have known Ms. Butler is her Aunt, Lula Bell Crawford( Dewey); her former spouse, Cedric Butler and the entire Butler Family; her entire Fluellen Family; Brown Family, Williams Family, and Hollis Family; and a host of friends and loved ones.
