COLUMBIA. . .Carlton Felton Carpenter, a former resident of Columbia, died Saturday night, April 9, 2022, in Wesley Place on Honeysuckle. He was 72.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 12, 2022, in the First Baptist Church of Columbia with Pastor Vann Cooley and Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia City Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Columbia, P.O. Box 77, Columbia, AL 36319.
Carlton Carpenter was born in Henry County and was reared in Columbia, son of the late Gillam Davie Carpenter and Willie Pearl Scott Carpenter. He lived in Columbia all his adult lifetime. Carlton was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia and participated in the James Green Senior Nutrition Center. He was formerly employed at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant. Carlton was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Rodney Williams.
Surviving relatives include a son, Travis G. Carpenter (A.J.) Rehobeth, AL; two sisters, Katrine Williams, Dothan; and Paula Brooks (Gerald), Havana, FL; two brothers, Junior Carpenter (Freddie), Dothan; and Terry Carpenter (Kathy), Ozark; a grandson, Spencer A. Carpenter, and a step-granddaughter, Cheyenne Tillery; and an aunt, Helon Scott.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Spencer Carpenter, Bruce Carpenter, Bryce Carpenter, Brody Goodman, Rob McNamara and Andy Waters.
