Carlton Lamar Ott, Sr., age 83, of Dothan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2023 after an extended illness with dementia.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Glover Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Gardens of Memory in Dothan, Alabama with Chaplain Eddie Henderson officiating. At all other times, the family will be at the Ott residence, located at 216 Stonegate Drive in Dothan.
Carlton was born in Dale County on October 11, 1940 to William Franklin (W.F.) and Minnie Belle Ott. He grew up and attended school in Slocomb. He was engaged in the gasoline and LP gas business throughout his life. He owned and operated Ramada BP / Gulf and Medical Center BP, and he was a founding partner of Houston Propane. He served his country in the Army Reserves for 6 years. Carlton was a member of Christian Home Church of Christ. He loved his family immeasurably, especially his devoted wife of 58 years. He also loved his children and grandchildren, and he always told them how proud he was of them. He was an avid Auburn football fan, and he loved fishing with his buddies at Howard Creek.
Carlton was preceded in death by his parents, W.F and Minnie Belle Ott, a sister, Brenda Henderson, and a son in law, Bryant Faulk.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Norma Snellgrove Ott, his three children, Mandy Faulk of Dothan, Becky (William) Birdsong of Hartford, Bubba (Ashton) Ott of Webb, his eight grandchildren, Audrey (Curt) Stephens, Jared Faulk, Jake Faulk, Shelby (Dustin) Jones, Bailey Birdsong, Will Birdsong, Whit Ott, and Johnson Ott, one great grandchild, Blair Ann Jones, sisters Carole Bridges and Joan Stinson, brother, Billy Ott, brother in law, Jerry (Kathryn) Snellgrove, a special cousin, Danny (Debbie) Ott, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Carlton’s memory to Shiloh Baptist Church Building Fund, Hartford, Alabama.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the staff of Wesley Place and Southern Care Hospice for the compassionate care of their loved one.
