Carlton Roy Christensen, 76, a resident of Dothan passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2015 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Bluff Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Christensen was born August 3, 1938 in Pipestone, Minnesota. He joined the United States Army and served for ten years. He later joined the United States Navy and served twelve years before his retirement in 1976. Following his military service he was later employed with Covan and Houston Paper Company.
Survivors include his sons, Charles Roy Christensen, Jeffrey Daniel Christensen, and Bryan Keith Christensen; his daughters, Yvonne (William David) Cannon and Marie Cannon; his grandchildren, Michael William Besse, Lisa Marie (Stanley) Gomez, Joshua David Besse, Shana Nicole Cannon, Justin David Cannon, and Laura Ashley Cannon; 12 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Kenneth Christensen and Dean Christensen; his sisters, Janet (Eddie) Whiddon and Phyllis (Gary) Kurtz; several nieces and nephews.
