Carolyn Christian Bottoms
Carolyn Christian Bottoms died Thursday morning, April 11, 2013, at Extendicare. She was 72.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. James B. Sanders and Rev. Lynn Smilie Nesbitt officiating and Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends in the church parlor from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
Born and raised in Athens, GA, Mrs. Bottoms graduated from Emory University where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She attended graduate school at Auburn University where she colonized the Auburn chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Mrs. Bottoms was a member of the Dothan First United Methodist Church and of the Kay Williams Sunday School Class. She had been a Sunday school teacher and active member of the worship committee. Mrs. Bottoms lived most of her adult life in Dothan as a loving wife and mother. She was a member of the Soroculae Study Club. She enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, and playing with her iPad.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Christian, and a brother, Hugh Christian.
Mrs. Bottoms is survived by her husband, Bobby; a daughter, Sara Creamer (Ken) of Dothan; a son, Calvin Bottoms (Heather) of Franklin, TN; six grandchildren, Tori and Fletcher Nowell, McKenzie, Peyton, and Zoe Bottoms, and Katie Creamer; three step-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Christian (Pam) of Kennesaw, GA, and Charles Christian (Tori) of Phoenix, AZ; a sister-in-law, Peggy Driggers of Dothan; and several nieces and nephews.
