Carolyn Davis Black was blessed to Harold and Elizabeth Davis on November 16, 1948 in Dothan, AL, and overcame the obstacles of cancer on May 13, 2019.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service for loved ones, coworkers and friends to say farewell to Carolyn.
Carolyn lived a life of faith with an eternal desire to please the Lord. Carolyn was a nurse by occupation and vocation. She dedicated over 30 years of service to Flowers Hospital in various departments, retiring from outpatient surgery. Even after retirement for the next ten years, Carolyn continued to perform private nursing skills for homebound patients for several local families. She was a woman of virtue performing missionary works over her lifetime. To be acquainted with Carolyn was a joy, but to befriend her was a blessing. She always provided a smile, prayer, a sound word and a fine tune.
Carolyn lived this life, running the race not given the swift, fought the battle not given to the strong, she was awakened in paradise. Rest now our sweet Mother, Daughter, Sister, Grandma and Friend. We know that we loved you, but God loved you more, until we meet again.
She is proceeded in death by her father, Harold; son, G. Lamar Black, Jr; and her husband of 27 years, G. Lamar Black.
Carolyn lives to cherish her memories to her mother, Elizabeth Davis (Dothan); her children, Jacqueline (Eric) Bascomb of Birmingham, Jessica (Howard) Mitchell and David Black, both of Dothan; grandchildren, Miya Black (Montgomery) - Justice and Gabriel Black (Dothan), Leah Bascomb (Birmingham) Alina (Lorenzo) Thomas and Ariq Bascomb of Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren Trystan, Caleb and Ayden Thomas (Las Vegas) and Zaylen I. Black (Dothan); brother, Heyward (Yourine) Davis of Conyers, GA; sister, Pamela Harris (Alia Hardrick-daughter) of Prattville; her closet friend and sister in the Lord, Janice Bishop; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, children in love and fellow nurses.
The family would like to say thank you for all thoughtfulness, many condolences and acts of kindness.
