COLUMBIA. . .Caron Virginia Lord West, a resident of Columbia, died early Friday morning, August 5, 2022, at her home. She was 78.


      There are no funeral or memorial services planned at this time. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.


         Mrs. West was born in Babbie, Alabama and was raised in Miami, Florida, daughter of the late Ferrell Benton Lord and Totsie Spurlin Lord. She was a 1961 graduate of Southwest Miami High School. Mrs. West lived in Columbia since 2003. She was retired from the Social Security Administration in the Dothan office. In earlier years, was employed by the Farmer’s Home Administration in Abbeville. Caron had a special love for Lake Eufaula and the Chattahoochee River.


      Surviving relatives include her husband, Merwyn Lee West, Jr., four daughters, Kaylyn Stewart (Jimmy), Ashford; Kari McLean (Paul), Level Plains; Kaci Sheffield (Ryan), Blakely, GA; and Melia West, Bainbridge, GA; a sister, Janice Anderson (Buddy), Eoda, Alabama; ten grandchildren, Sara Stewart, Lillian Stewart, Elizabeth Stewart, Morgan Dawkins (Blake), John Dalton McLean, Madison McLean, Reagan McLean, Alexa Lawrence, Aubrey West and Mekenzie Wilbourn.


      The family would like to express their appreciation to caregiver, Judy Blankenship, and also to Kindred Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. West during her illness.
