Catherine Smith Goodnight Gilmore, born September 30, 1922, was called home to be with Jesus Sunday, January 26, 2014. As it says in God’s word, she most definitely fought the good fight. She has finished her course and kept the faith. And, we know that she’s received her crown of righteousness. (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
She was a faithful member of Hartford Baptist Church and enjoyed a career sharing in the lives of the citizens of Hartford as the editor of the Hartford News Herald. Later in life she was instrumental in the creation of the Johnny Hughes Community Center, the place where she not only graduated from High School in 1940, but also the place where she began her relationship with Christ. She also realized her dream of bringing to life the Hartford Art & History Museum. Catherine and her husband Adron owned and operated Gilmore’s Antiques in Hartford.

A Celebration Service for Catherine’s life will be held at 11:30 AM, Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Hartford Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery under the direction of Jimmy Bottoms of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until service time at the church. The family will be gathered at the home of Kenneth and Donna Goodnight, 204 Frances Drive in Hartford. Flowers will be accepted. Or donations may be made to the Hartford Art and History Museum. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hartford Health Care and Southern Care Hospice for the loving care that they have shown.
