HEADLAND. . .Cathryn Hawkins Adams, a resident of Headland, died early Sunday morning, December 28, 2014, in the Extendicare Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was 99.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 30, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Norman C. Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Headland Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Headland “Bridge To Tomorrow” Building Fund, 301 E. Church Street, Headland, AL 36345.


            Mrs. Adams was born and reared in Headland, daughter of the late James Robert Hawkins and Effie Hollon Hawkins. She lived in Headland most of her lifetime and was a graduate of Headland High School. Mrs. Adams was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland, the T.E.L. Sunday School Class, and formerly taught the Junior Girls Class. In earlier years, she and her husband owned and operated the C.B. Adams Grocery in Headland. Mrs. Adams formerly participated in the Burdeshaw-Solomon Senior Center. She enjoyed the years she lived at Azalea Court Assisted Living and the wonderful relationship she had with the staff and residents. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cullen Boyce Adams.


            Surviving relatives include nieces, nephews, and cousins.
