Cecil “Ralph” Franklin went to be with His Lord Monday night, October 25th at the age of 96. Ralph, with his servant’s heart, lived a life giving back to the people of Dothan, our nation, and his family. Ralph served in World War II fighting in the Pacific theater. After the war ended, he came back to Dothan and devoted almost 40 years protecting his community at the Dothan Fire Department. He retired as Deputy Fire Chief. Ralph, Daddy or PaPa would spend hours out on the grill to prepare great ribs for his family, work tirelessly in his yard keeping everything beautiful or wake up early to “go fishing” which was just fixing his grandkids rods and reels for a whole day.
Ralph was proceeded in death by his wife of 57 years Betty English Franklin and survived by their two children Gloria Brackin (Mike) and Glenn Franklin (Melanie). He is also survived by one sister Annie Ruth Jackson, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. His servant’s heart lives on through them.
Graveside services for Mr. Franklin will be 2 PM, Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Memory Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jim Tate officiating. There will be no public visitation.
To honor our father, we ask for memorial donations to:
The Dothan Fireman’s Relief Fund, 600 Columbia Hwy, Dothan Alabama 36301.
