“Ms. Tee” was born in Barbour County to the late Richard Richardson and the late Eula Gordon Richardson. She accepted Christ at an early age at The White Oak AME Church. In her adult life, she moved her membership to the Sardis Baptist Church where she was very active especially when it was time to raise funds for revival meetings and special events .Blessed with an eye for fashion, Ceola was able to parlay a hobby into a thriving business. After helping others for many years with clothes and flowers, she started Ms. Tee Creations and presented weddings and fashion shows. Ceola completed the Displaced Home Maker Program at Sparks State Technical College in Eufaula Alabama.
Ceola Richardson was loved by everyone and was blessed with the gift of bringing people together despite the adversities faced in the Jim Crow South. She saw no color. If you loved God and had a good heart then Ceola would be your sister and your friend. Before becoming disabled, Ceola provided child care for many families. Then it was on to work with her mother at The Town Terrance Motel, where she started out in maintenance and later moved to the kitchen. Ceola Richardson reared her children in Eufaula and went on to do great community projects with young children, from starting her own Bible class, to teaching youth about The Love of God, to a baseball team to keep children out of the street. Ceola had many health issues in her life and she often shared her testimony of how God healed her from a stroke, a tumor on the Brain, and yes even colon cancer. Ceola moved to Headland, Alabama as she was battling her latest bout with bone cancer because she wanted to be close to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan Alabama. She joined the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and was an active member even through her illness, which to look at her, you would have never known she was fighting for her life.
Recognized as a community leader, Ceola received a Letter of Appreciation from The Mayor of Eufaula in 1989 and during her 70th year birthday celebration, she received a Letter of Appreciation from the Mayor of Headland in 2014. She was a home owner and as beloved by her neighbors and friends she was known for helping others, a selfless person who did not know the meaning of I can’t, only I can do all things through Christ that Strengthens me, Philippians 4:13.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jessie Mae Willis and Connie Hamilton, and two brothers, L.C. Russaw and Richard Richardson, Jr.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Barbie Sue Jones (Mark), Long Beach, CA; a son, Ike Richardson (Lorraine), Irvinton, N.J.; a step-son, Josh Craddock, Headland; two sisters, Clara Tuggle, Eufaula; and Ida Mae Rash (James), Columbus, GA; a sister-in-law, Mary Rae Russaw, Eufaula; and a brother-in-law, Charles Willis, Eufaula; seven grandchildren, Breanna Jones, Mark Jones, Isaac Richardson (Andrea), Michael Richardson, Takilrah Williams, Tiberious Campbell Richardson, and Naya Cruz; six great-grandchildren.
