Chad Edward Stewart, 41, of Montgomery went home to his Lord Saturday, April 26, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church Enterprise at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, with Rev. Sonny Moore officiating. Visitation will precede the service in the Fellowship Hall at 1 P.M. Burial will be in Dale County at the Peniel Baptist Church cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.

Chad Stewart was born December 28, 1972. He was a 1991 valedictorian at Enterprise High School, where he was a three-year letterman on the Wildcat football team. He received an accounting degree, magna cum laude, from Troy University in 1995, and completed his law degree at Cumberland Law School in Birmingham in 1999, again magna cum laude. Following graduation from Cumberland, Mr. Stewart clerked, first, for Federal Judge DeMent, then for Federal Judge Dubina. He then joined the Montgomery law firm of Sasser Littleton and Stidham.

Mr. Stewart returned to his hometown of Enterprise as a partner in the law firm of Marsh Cotter and Stewart. While in Enterprise his family were members at First Baptist Church Enterprise, where he was ordained a deacon. His faithfulness to his family, his friends, his church, and his community gave an outstanding example of Christian life and service.

He made the decision to return to Montgomery to become a partner in the Beasley Allen law firm. He and his family were active members at First Baptist Church Montgomery.

His paternal grandparents Louise and J. T. Stewart and his maternal grandfather Julius Kelley precede Chad in death.

He is survived by his wife Becky (Snellgrove) and their children Cate, Ann Presley, and Bo; mother and father Gayle and Joe Paul Stewart; a brother Ryan (Philann) Stewart and a sister Tara (Dusty) Fowler; maternal grandmother, Dixie Hagler Kelley; and five beloved nieces and nephews—Cobb, Clara Rose, and Ryan Philip Stewart; Judson Fowler, and Hannah Wilson; his mother-in-law, Sarah Danford; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Wilson.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Children’s Hospital Birmingham or the Wounded Warriors Project.
