Charles Bruce Adams
Bruce Adams age 76 of Dothan, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Southeast Health with his daughter Megan by his side following a battle with cancer. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024, 4:30 p.m. at Fowler Family Funeral Home (965 Woodland Drive Dothan, AL) with Chaplain John Gormely officiating. A brief visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. All who knew Bruce are invited to attend.
Bruce was born in Jackson, Alabama to Horace and Jean Adams. He was raised in Dothan, Alabama with his 3 siblings. Bruce graduated from Dothan High School in 1966. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, and then attended the University of Iowa receiving a BA in History (1983), and University of Iowa law school receiving his Juris Doctor (JD) in 1986. After finishing school and passing his bar exam, Bruce moved his family back home to Dothan, Alabama where he practiced law for the past 38 years. Bruce loved the game of golf and chose to spend many meetings with clients and friends on the golf course insead of his office. During his time in the U.S. Navy, he developed a love of sailing the open sea. In his spare time, you could find him spending as much time as possible with his beloved grandchildren, driving to the Gulf Coast, stopping to listen to local bands or reading a good book. Bruce enjoyed attending Alabama football games in Tuscaloosa and watching locally with friends and family. Bruce had a passion for history and the arts. He was an avid music lover that ranged from Rock n Roll to Blues, from Country music to Jazz. He attended many Jazz Festivals in New Orleans. With such a strong music passion, Bruce held the position of Board President of the Wiregrass Blues Society from 2017-2020. He provided steady and faithful leadership, assisting with all parts of the Wiregrass Blues Festival and the Blues-in-Schools program. Bruce was also able to lend his legal expertise during his time as board president to solidify contracts with performers and vendors at the Wiregrass Blues Festival. Throughout life, Bruce always demonstrated his unwavering love for his children, family, friends, community and country. His legacy for service, love, compassion, and generosity will forever be remembered and cherished by all those who loved him.
Bruce lived a great life!
He is preceded in death by his parents Horace P. Adams and Jean R Adams; his wife Vicki Cale Adams; daughter Rhonda Adams Deese.
Survivors include his siblings: Willard Adams, Robert Adams( Emily), Rebecca Scott (Bill); Daughters: Angela Shay Niles (Ron), Christina Thead Whittington (Mike), Megan Adams Hall (Chris); son-in-law, Kevin Deese; grandchildren: Merisa Chandler, Scotty Niles, Davis Adams, Donovan Whittington, Alexis Whittington, Delayna Church, David Deese, Marissa Cumbie, Mason Hall and Adaline Hall; great Grandchildren: Wyatt Wynn, Hudson Lorenzo, Rhett Hall and Haven Cumbie.
