Charles Christopher Paulk, known to all as Charlie, lived his life to the fullest. Born on December 2, 1983, in Dothan, Alabama, he embraced the world with tremendous gusto. Charlie’s journey came full circle when he passed away on June 16, 2024.
Charlie was always the life of the party. His love for life was as expansive as his taste in music. If you couldn’t find him listening to a rock and roll song, he was probably out being a free soul listening to Jimmy Buffet, soaking up the sun on the beach, or wakeboarding at Compass Lake.
A proud graduate of Northview High School in 2002, Charlie went on to earn a degree in Consumer Science at the University of Alabama. His generous spirit knew no bounds, and his funny anecdotes brought joy to those around him. His laughter steered his way into the hearts of family & friends.
Charlie’s love for his family was unparalleled; he was as loving and giving to his siblings as he was passionate about every aspect of life. He had a heart that matched his laugh—both were big and impossible to ignore.
Charlie was always a breath of fresh air. His humor was a gift that he gave freely, unapologetically brightening the days of those around him. He was a generous soul, sharing not just his material possessions but also his most precious commodity: joy.
To say Charlie was a character would be an understatement. He was a one-man show, a dynamo of fun and laughter, leaving a legacy of cherished memories and stories that will be told and retold with smiles and warmth.
As we bid farewell to Charlie, we remember a man who was larger than life. His was a life well-lived, well-loved, and absolutely unforgettable. The world is a little less bright without Charlie’s brilliant light.
He is survived by his father, Charles (Tara) Paulk, mother Laurie (Ricky) Ernest, brother Davis (Rachel) Paulk, sister Victoria (James) Tillman, step-siblings Katie Bloodworth and Kyle (Kseniia) Ernest, his adoring nephew Sutton Galloway, and aunts and uncles Becky Paulk Gibson, Nora Warner (Ed), Steve Dozier (Susan), Mike Dozier (Leah), Jimmy Dozier (Sandra), and Edie Dozier. His family was his rock, his joy, and often his audience, as he reveled in being the center of attention at every family gathering.
Pallbearers will be Cameron Creel, Hal Senn, Brandon Buchanan, Pierce Moore, Brett Richardson and Rayford Little.
