HEADLAND . . . Charles Dean Hurst, a resident of Headland, entered into eternal rest, Saturday afternoon, November 26, 2011, in the emergency room of the Doctor’s Memorial Hospital in Bonifay, Florida. He was 77.


           


Celebration of Life Services, with military honors, will be held at 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, November 30, 2011, in the Headland United Methodist Church with Reverend Phil Craddock and Reverend Bobby Ellisor officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A. M. Wednesday in the church fellowship hall. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.


           


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd Floor, Bethesda, MD 20814 or to the Celiac Disease Foundation, 13251 Ventura Blvd., Suite 1, Studio City, CA 91604.


           


Mr. Hurst was born in Mulberry Grove, Illinois but was reared in Alton, Illinois, son of the late Bryan Hurst and Lena Hickey Hurst. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Hurst moved to Headland in 1979 where he was a member of the Headland United Methodist Church and the Brown’s Crossroads Masonic Lodge No. 529. He was retired as a Project Manager and was formerly employed by Bank Building Corporation for over thirty-five years.


           


Surviving relatives include his wife, Linda Mullins Hurst, Headland; three daughters, Faith Ellisor and husband, Rev. Bobby Ellisor, Navarre, FL; Kimberly Day, Dothan; Brittany Jolly and husband, Adam Jolly, Headland; two sons, Tyler Hurst and wife, Karen Hurst, Enterprise; Alan Estes and wife, Mamie Estes, Dothan; a brother, Ralph Hurst, Alton, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.


           


Serving as active pallbearers will be Gary Harbert, III, Justin Blocker, Taylor Blocker, Cody Hurst, Adam Jolly and Brock Dean Estes.
