Charles E. Harden, a resident of Dothan, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Southeast Health Medical Center. He was 88.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon Monday, April 10, 2023 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with his brother, Rev. Jerry Harden officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Monday prior to service time. Flowers are being accepted.
Mr. Harden was born June 19, 1934 in Dale County, Alabama to Reese Samson Harden and Myrtle Lucille Dasinger Harden. He was a lifelong resident of Houston County. He was employed as a machine operator with Twitchell manufacturing for 25 years prior to his retirement. Following retirement, he was employed with Shutes Pecan Company as a pecan buyer for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing and farming. Mr. Harden was of the Assembly of God faith.
He is predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Ellen V. Harden, siblings, Ethel Loraine Harden, George E. Harden, Ben Hill Harden, Elbert Harden, Billy Jo Harden and Mary Evelyn Lewis.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Spires Harden of Dothan; daughter, Lorrie Ann Powers of Cowarts; two sons, Charles “Larry” Harden (Kathy) and Ricky Earl Harden, all of Cowarts; grandchildren, Jonathan Smith, Heather McCall (Jimmy), Eaddie Hall (Cally), Ashley Peterman (Justin) and Jonathan Harden; great-grandchildren, Kole, Oliver, Kaylee, Paislee, Finlee, Anslee and Kinzlee; two brothers, Jerry Harden (Robbie) and Robert Harden (Sue) of Slocomb; three sisters, Evelyn Sizemore, Sybil Dixon and Linda Floyd, all of Dothan; several special sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy McCall, Eaddie Hall, Jamie Granger, Kole Granger, Sammy Sizemore, Wayne Worley and Terry Harden.
