Charles Edward Sasser of Brantley, AL passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020. He was 83 years old.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2020 at New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kenner Batchelor officiating and Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing.
Mr. Sasser was born in Holmes County, FL on October 26, 1937 to the late J.P. and Reather Martin Sasser. He began a lifelong career in the grocery business at the age of 17 in 1955. He met his wife of 59 years while working at the Piggly Wiggly in Geneva, Alabama and she was employed with the American Bank. He was very proud to have operated his own grocery store from 1992 until 2013. He enjoyed spending time with family and especially his granddaughter, Susannah. He had a love and passion for music, as he learned to play the guitar and piano early in life. He had a love and talent for gardening. Growing up on a farm in Holmes County he accepted hard work as a way of life and took advantage of the opportunities that he created for himself.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Maxine Sasser; infant son, Christopher Sasser; three brothers, Johnny, Dallas, and Roger Sasser.
He is survived by one daughter, Kim Noblin of Brantley, AL; two sons, Keith Sasser (Trish) of Kinston, AL, and Jeff Sasser of Brantley, AL; granddaughter, Susannah Noblin of Brantley, AL; one brother, Curt Sasser of Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Audrey Pitts of Chipley, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
