ABBEVILLE. . .Charles Floyd “Charlie” Bodiford, a resident of Abbeville, died Monday, March 6, 2017, at his home. He was 77.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, in the Union Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Ray S. Reiley officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Mr. Bodiford, affectionately known by his family as “Uncle Boog”, was born in Henry County and was reared in Eufaula where he was a 1958 graduate of Eufaula High School. He lived most of his adult lifetime in Atlanta before moving to the Union Community, near Abbeville, in 2010. Mr. Bodiford retired from Delta Air Lines after thirty-two years employment. After his retirement from Delta, he was employed by Sysco in Atlanta. He enjoyed fishing, was a NASCAR fan and an avid Auburn Tiger fan, WAR EAGLE! Mr. Bodiford was preceded in death by his parents, James Alexander Bodiford and Ruby Lee Skeen Bodiford, and two brothers, James Oscar Bodiford and George Wesley Bodiford.
Surviving relatives includes his wife, Dawn Jackson Bodiford; three daughters, Susan Leigh Braman (Bill), Springville, AL; Jean McCarley, McDonough, GA; and Donna Padgett (Tony), Jackson, GA; a son, Bryant McCarley, Covington, GA; a sister, Joy Glover (Tim), Eufaula; a sisters-in-law, Angela Bodiford McBroom, Daleville, AL and Penny Bodiford Moore; five grandchildren, Emily Braman, Alex Braman, Nichole Bartlett (Michael), Amy McCarley and Amanda McCarley; two great-grandchildren, Mckenzie Bartlett and Dylan Bartlett.
