Charles Franklin Messer of Geneva, formerly of Pace, FL., passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in Wiregrass Nursing Home. He was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 10am Friday, August 30, 2013 at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Geneva with Bro. William Kidwell officiating. Burial will follow in Beulah Anna Cemetery under the direction of Jimmy Bottoms of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Geneva.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 517, Geneva, AL 36340.
Mr. Messer was a Mason and was very active in Immanuel Baptist Church in Pace, FL. He retired from Monsanto after 35 years. He was also a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years and the mother of his children, Juanita Spears Messer.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Messer of Geneva; one son, Rick (Sharon) Messer of Marianna, FL.; one daughter, Dianne (Bud) Edwards of Grand Ridge, FL.; two grandsons, Jeremy Messer and Bud Edwards; one granddaughter, Traci Carney; one sister, Patsy Fountain of Montgomery; several other extended family members.
