Charles Lee Keel, longtime resident of Lagrange, GA, went home to the Lord peacefully on June 3, 2023. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, June 10, 2023, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva. A private burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva, directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
He was the devoted husband of Glenda King Keel (his high school sweetheart) for over 50 years whom proceeded him in death in 2021. He was the father of David Lee Keel, Denise Keel Pierce, and Dedra Keel Wade.
Charles was born on April 3, 1950 in Hartford, AL to R.D. and Lucille Keel. Growing up in and around Geneva, AL Charles enjoyed sports at Geneva High School where he also met his wife Glenda. After settling in LaGrange, Georgia Charles became a member of Franklin Road Baptist Church where he was a deacon, taught Sunday school, and volunteered around the church in many numerous ways. Charles loved the Lord and could be found in the middle of the night reading his Bible. Charles enjoyed outings with his wife and other couples. He was proud of his children and enjoyed spending time with his nine grandchildren. His life was consumed with family, sports and laughter. Charles had a witty personality and was always quick with a good or bad joke. He enjoyed making people laugh. Charles was an avid golfer and was often found on the golf course regardless of the weather.
In addition to his wife Glenda, he was proceeded in death by his parents R.D. and Lucille Keel, brother Robert Keel, sisters June McEndree, and Judy Taylor.
Charles is survived by his children David Lee Keel (Jennifer) of Fayetteville GA, Denise Keel Pierce (Brian) Buckhead GA, and Dedra Keel Wade(Heath) of Vestavia Hills, AL. His nine grandchildren Skyler Keel, Hudson Keel, Emme Keel, Jacob Pierce, Aiden Pierce, Henry Pierce, Dillan Wade, Ben Wade, and Charlie James Wade.
Charles will be greatly missed by his friends, family, and beloved dog Sam. Our peace rest in knowing he is now complete and healed by the Lord living in Heaven.
