TEXASVILLE, ALABAMA. . .Charles Legran Baxley, a resident of Texasville, Alabama, died Wednesday night, April 15, 2020, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility. He was 88.
Due to the COVID-19 Virus, a family graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 18, 2020, in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, near Texasville, with Reverend Clyde Hancock, Jr. officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Corinth Baptist Church, c/o Jean Self, 506 Zorn Road, Clayton, AL 36016.
Mr. Baxley was a lifelong resident of Barbour County, near Texasville, son of the late Wiley Cain Baxley and Erie Alma Bryan Baxley. He was a 1950 graduate of Louisville High School. Mr. Baxley served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was formerly engaged in farming. Mr. Baxley was preceded in death by his wife, Lalah Moring Baxley, seven sisters, Minnie Merle Baxley, Lillian Williams, Tommie Lou Helms, Emogene Helms, Myrtice Baxley, Miriam Charping and Addie Maude Berry, and three brothers, T. C. Baxley, Edwin Baxley and Emmett Baxley.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Therisa Kain (Jim), Newville; Tonia Beverett (Tim), Bertha Community; and Tamara Ivey (Jimmy), Texasville; a son, Tony Baxley (Christina), Texasville; a sister-in-law, Bell Baxley, and a brother-in-law, Jim Berry; eight grandchildren, Michael Tate, Christopher Tate (Ashleigh), Hunter Tate, Bridgette Beverett, Dustin Beverett, April Hicks (Derrick), Brittany Owings (Chris), and Taylor Cannon (Austin); seven great-grandchildren.
