Mr. Charles Lester “Skip” McQuaid of Geneva, Alabama passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016.  He was 73.


Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2016, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Ealum and Rev. Douglas Smiley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Whitewater Baptist Church Cemetery in Holmes County with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, January 16, 2016, from 6 until 8 p.m.


Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wilmer’s Hall Children’s Orphanage or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.


Skip was born December 5, 1942, in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Charles and Elizabeth Woods McQuaid.  He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years.  He was a CPA and did taxes for many people, therefore he was affectionately known as “the tax man”. For more than 25 years he owned and operated The McQuaid Group in Geneva. Skip loved his family and was very involved in his children’s lives, especially during their school years coaching ball games.  He was a diehard Auburn fan and a new Mississippi State fan; having granddaughters at both colleges.


In addition to his parents, his wife of 32 years, Virginia Faye McQuaid, mother and father-in-law, Richard and Nell Holder, and a brother-in-law, Leslie Rogers, all preceded him death.


Survivors include four daughters: Michelle Kunce (Justin) of Brewton, AL, Teresa Rodocker of Port Angeles, WA, Charley Wright (Craig) of Tupelo, MS and Nikki Ellenburg (Wade) of Westville, FL; one son, Ricky McQuaid (Carla) of Geneva, AL; one sister, Mary Lou Coate (Frank) of Satsuma, AL; sister-in-law, Susan Harris (Steve) of Bonifay, FL; 19 grandchildren: Lee Holland (Stacy), Brett Holland (Nikki), Brian Holland, Elizabeth Holland, Paxton Rodocker, Chase Griffin, Andrew McQuaid, Rebecca Jones, Johanna McQuaid, Kazzie Ellenburg, Ryan Rodocker, Katelynn McQuaid, Gracie McQuaid, Zoie Ellenburg, Braden McQuaid, Ryliegh Wright, Ryan Wright, Jack Kunce, Jay Kunce and John Kunce; three great-grandchildren: Kenley Holland, Kyi Kunce and Yuri-Ann Kunce; nieces and nephews: Michael Rogers, Lee Ann Green (Ronnie), Mary Rogers, Shea Harris (Kim) and Summer Harris; special friend, Sandy Lambert; other extended family and friends.


Active pallbearers will be Ricky McQuaid, Shea Harris, Brett Holland, Brian Holland, Chase Griffin and Andrew McQuaid.


Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Holland and Michael Rogers.
