Charles Lindbergh Williams, a resident of Chancellor, AL, formally of Enterprise, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. He was 86.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 12, 2018 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Clayton Nowell, Brother Leon Adams, and Dr. Chris Adams officiating and Robert Byrd directing. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Headland, Alabama or to the Wiregrass Children’s Home.

Mr. Williams was born on May 25, 1932 in Coffee County, Alabama, the son of Brantley and Minnie Williams. He lived the early years of his life in New Hope. Mr. Williams attended Enon and New Hope School in Coffee County, AL. Mr. Williams was first employed by Paschal Dairy. He took up the trade of plumbing and electrical and served his apprenticeship under Alex Miller and Milton Cain Plumbing and Electric Companies. After successfully passing his state exam, Mr. Williams received his plumbing and electric certificate. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially loved fishing. He was known in the community as always helping others and he had a very giving nature. Mr. Williams was surrounded by his loving neighbors and friends, who were always available to help during his time of need. There are not enough words to express the special thanks to them from Mrs. Williams and Machelle for their love and support. Mr. Williams was a strong believer in the Christian faith, and a huge Alabama Roll Tide fan. James, Judy, Steve and Sidney were always welcomed to his house, even though they were Auburn fans, however he wished when Andy was taking the trash to the road each week that he would get their Auburn stuff and put it in the can with the rest of the trash.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Nadine Parrish Crum, Inez Goodson, and Nancy Sparks Wilson, by his brother, Edward Williams, and by his step-son, Robert Len Averett.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Williams; his son, Ricky (Linda) Williams; his step-son, Steve (Becky) Averett; his step-daughters, Machelle Averett and Gail (Jimmy) Martin; his 2 grandchildren, Blake and Brook; his step-grandchildren, Dale, Sidney, John Austin, Lacey, Haley, Robert, and Katrina; 1 great-grandchild, Sophie; and 2 step great-grandchildren, Eli and Abby; his sisters, Winnie Helms (Walt) Nadolson and Betty (Roy) Miller; several nieces, nephews, and cousins that were loved very much.

Special thanks to the staff of Kindred Hospice, especially, Theresa Fleming, Juliette Andrews, Mary Lewis, Diane Stuckey, Roxanne Branch, Abby Smith, Amy James, and Dr. Chris Adams.

Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home, (334) 983-6604, is in charge of arrangements. Please call us or visit www.SunsetMemorialPark.com for more information.
