Charles Ned Locklar, of Enterprise, AL, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Flowers Hospital. He was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, November 6, 2023 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Rev. Coltin Wester officiating. . Burial will follow in New Brockton City Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 P.M. until service time. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Charles was born on August 21, 1936 in New Brockton, Alabama, the son of Charlie and Lois Donaldson Locklar. He graduated from New Brockton High School in 1954. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Hawaii. He completed his time in the Air Force in November 1957. After which he joined the United States Air Reserves and served from 1957 until 1962. Charles graduated from Troy State College in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. His career began at Fort Rucker in Maintenance Supply and then as a Geodesist with Army Mapping Services in Washington D.C., followed by a Mathematician at Turner AFB in Albany, GA. He then returned to Fort Rucker as a Senior Computer Programmer Analyst with Texcon Aviation Board as a GS12 until his retirement in 1990.
He coached youth baseball in Enterprise when his boys were young. He attended Hillcrest Baptist Church in Enterprise.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Lois Locklar.
Survivors include his two sons, Steve Locklar, New Brockton, AL; David Locklar (Gisela), Enterprise, AL; sister, Patricia Clark (Henry), Elba, AL; granddaughter, Victoria Olsen; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Ellenberg, Jeffrey Yancey, Andy Locklar, Dowe Clark, Jim Reese and Clark Logan.
