Charles Anthony Prater of Ozark, Alabama went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, November 19, 2016 at UAB Hospital.


Charles was born September 25, 1958 at Lyster Army Hospital, Fort Rucker, AL and was a 1977 graduate of Carroll High School where he played baseball and other sports.  He was a member of Greater Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, worked at Fort Rucker, Alabama, and served in the United States Army for 5 years.  He loved being around family and friends; and enjoyed watching Alabama football, NBA, NFL, and Law & Order.  He absolutely loved sports!


Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles Prater, his grandparents, F.T. and Whittie Mae Lawson, nephew, Christopher Savoy Jones, grandmother, Mama Grace, Aunts, Wonnie Rosiba and Annie Bowens, Uncles, Johnny Frank Lawson, and Bill Watts, and cousins, Wallace Ruley and Allen Lorenzo Cole.


He leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother, Pearl Prater, son, Berek LaShaun (Alyssa) Warren; and grandson, Tyree Deshaun Warren of Goldsboro, NC, his sister, Sophia (Christopher) Jones of Dothan, AL, niece, Christina Jones; and great-niece, Phoenix Vi Jones of Atlanta, GA, special cousin, Renia (Eddie) Eutsey of Ozark, AL; and a host of Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and friends.


A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Greater Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, Ozark AL with Reverend S.C. Hudson officiating.  Burial will follow at Greater Sardis Missionary Cemetery (Westside Cemetery) with Newman Mortuary directing.
