Charles Preston Moore
Charles Preston Moore, 82, a former resident of Dothan, died Friday night, April 26, 2013 at his home in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Louie Reynolds and Mr. Rick White officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery (Enterprise) with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice.
Mr. Moore was born November 15, 1930 in Coffee County, Alabama where he spent his early years and graduated from high school. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Air Force and served in Korea. In 1965, he married Carolyn Horne and moved to Dothan. He was engaged in the grocery business all of his working career having owned Dixie Dandy and
Seven-Eleven in Dothan and also working at Food World and Winn Dixie. He loved sports and was an avid ‘Roll Tide’ Alabama fan. Mr. Moore was a resident of Panama City Beach for the past 20 years and was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Mr. Moore is predeceased by his parents, Shelley and Cossie Mae Moore, a sister, Sarah Smith and two brothers, Gibson Moore and John Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Moore of Panama City Beach, FL; five children, Carl and Jennifer Nipper of Mira Loma, CA, Andrew and Julie Burrow of Atlanta, GA, Doug and Melinda Middleton of Panama City Beach, FL, David Moore of Dothan, AL and Christi Moore of Enterprise, AL; grandchildren, Brent and Lisa, Andrew John and Catherine, Dustin Melissa, Russell, Brittany, April, Jayden and Joseph, Matthew, Kayla and Zack; great grandchildren, Kayden and Dawson.
