Charles Danford age 87 of Ashford passed away early Tuesday morning, September 10, 2024 following an extended illness.  Funeral services will be Friday, September 13, 2024, 2:30 pm at Bluff Springs Baptist Church of Ashford with Pastor James Bell officiating and Pastor Randy Dean speaking.  The Family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 pm.  Burial will follow at Bluff Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.  



Charles was born March 15,1937 in Ashford to Cleveland Lester Danford and Lella Mae Batson Danford.  He retired from the US Navy as a Chief Hospital Corpsman.  He returned to his hometown and began farming. He also worked with City of Dothan for several years. His greatest enjoyment was farming the land that he loved.  He raised cattle, peanuts, truck crops and later pine trees to harvest the pine straw. He was a hardworking, kind, generous, and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He was a faithful member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church.   



Charles is preceded in death by his parents Cleveland Lester Danford and Lella Mae Batson Danford; sisters Hazel Danford, Dorothy Butler, Evelyn Hodges, Faye Christiansen and brother Lester Danford, Jr. 



Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 68 years, Eleanor Faye Johnson Danford; daughters Cindy Fellows (Paul), Pamela Danford; son Daniel Danford; grandchildren: Stephen Fellows (Ruth), Cara Brownfield (John), Ruth Ellen Jackson (Frankie), Joseph Fellows, and Danielle Danford Johnson; great grandchildren: Darcy Fellows, Ailey Fellows, Arya Brownfield, Ayden Brownfield, Ellis Jackson, Truitt Jackson, McCoy Jackson, and Stephen Johnson; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.  



The family would like to extend a special thank you to Vitas Hospice for the excellent care received.
