MONTGOMERY…Charles Ronald Culbreth, a resident of Montgomery, died Wednesday night, February 5, 2014, at his home. He was 82.



            Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 8, 2014, in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, near Columbia, Alabama, with Reverend Don Tew officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary, Headland, Alabama, is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the sanctuary of the Ebenezer Baptist Church.



            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 3894 Ebenezer Road, Columbia, Alabama, 36319, or to Gentiva Hospice, 7075 Halcyon Park Drive, Suite 202, Montgomery, Alabama 36117.



            Mr. Culbreth was born and reared in the Ebenezer Community, near Columbia, Alabama, son of the late Jesse Alexander Culbreth and Ettie Mae Webb Culbreth. He was a 1949 graduate of the Houston County High School in Columbia. Mr. Culbreth served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He formerly lived in Montgomery and on Lake Martin, near Alexander City, before returning to Montgomery in 2011. Mr. Culbreth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alexander City. He was retired from AFLAC in Montgomery as an insurance agent. In earlier years, Mr. Culbreth was employed as an agent and district manager with Independent Life Insurance Company in Montgomery. He was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Maude Benefield, and five brothers, Earl Culbreth, Robert Culbreth, Winton Culbreth, Max Culbreth, and Bill Culbreth.



            Surviving relatives include his wife, Burna Dean Wade Culbreth; a daughter, Lorri Cole (Richard), all of Montgomery; three sons, Ronald Wade Culbreth, Destin, FL; Wendell Culbreth (Rhonda), Choctaw Beach, FL; Rodney Earl Culbreth (Paige), Andalusia, AL; a sister, Sue Sellers, Boone, NC; seven grandchildren, Jesse Culbreth (Brittany), Taylor Culbreth (Hailey), Shane Culbreth (Hannah), Brittnay Beckwith, Josh Culbreth, Will Roberts, and Tyler Tipton; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Estelle Culbreth, Bobbie Culbreth, and Maxine Culbreth.
