Charles Ronnie Meredith, a resident of Midland City, Alabama, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Flowers Hospital. He was 66.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Benny Cole, Rev. Karl Hudson and Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-7:00 pm. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGeehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36111.
Ronnie was born October 10, 1949 in Houston County and he resided most of his life in the Rehobeth area. He was a 1968 graduate of Rehobeth High School and he attended Wallace Community College. He was employed with Hedstrom for 19 years and was later employed with Michelin for 22 years before his retirement in 2008. Ronnie was a referee for 14 years for high school sports including football, baseball, and softball. He was a volunteer for Flowers Hospital, a member of the Senior Circle, and the Wiregrass Southern Gospel Choir. Ronnie was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church where he served with the Men’s ministry on the building and grounds committee. He also attended Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood where he was a choir member.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Meredith; his son, Jeff (Renee) Meredith; his daughter, Aimee Meredith; his step-children, Clint (Toby) Goss, Kim (Jason) Hollis; his grandchildren, Gavin Goss, Hunter Goss, Jacob Goss, Anna Hollis, Jessica Hollis and Britten Hollis; his brothers, Wayne (Sharon) Meredith and Ray (Katheryn) Meredith; his sisters, Linda (Jon) Spears and Marie Grover; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Glen Pitchford, Danny Taylor, Tim Roney, Denver German, Robert Efurd and Jerry Smith.
The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Scott McAllister and the staff of Dothan Hematology and Oncology and the doctors and staff at Flowers Hospital.
