HALEBURG…Charles “David” Sanders, a resident of Haleburg, Alabama, died Monday afternoon November 12, 2018, at his home. He was 85.


     Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, November 18, 2018, in the Haleburg Baptist Church with Reverend Ray Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in the Haleburg Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of the arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.


     Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Haleburg Baptist Church or Haleburg Cemetery Fund, c/o Donnie Teat, 1019 County Road 72, Columbia, AL 36319.


     Charles Sanders was born and reared in Newville, son of the late Chester Lee Sanders and Eunice Murphy Sanders. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Korean War veteran. Mr. Sanders retired from Pemco World Services and was formerly employed by Hayes Aircraft. He was a member of Haleburg Baptist Church, the Machinist Union and was an active participant in the Haleburg Senior Center. Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jo Holland Sanders, and two brothers, Dr. Robert Sanders and Chester Earl Sanders.


     Surviving relatives include three daughters, Elaine Teat (Donnie), Haleburg, Michelle Teat (Bobby), Eufaula, and Beth Sanders, Birmingham; two sisters, Mary Ann Granberry (Herman), Ozark, and Betty Blume, Denver, CO; a brother, Larry Sanders (Judy), Opelika; a sister-in-law, Dr. Nancy Sanders, New Orleans, LA; four grandchildren, Ron Teat (Shelley), Misty Watson (David), Jenna Teat and Kristin O’Bryan (Jay); nine great-grandchildren, Jacob Watson, Parker Teat, Sydney Joyner, Maddie Teat, Tucker Watson, Emmie Teat, Landon Jarrard and Hunter Jarrard; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from the Holland family, Mickey Holland, Wayne Holland (Sally) and Danny Holland.


     Serving as active pallbearers will be Ron Teat, David Watson, Jay O’Bryan, Corey Butterfield, Parker Teat and Tucker Watson.
