Charlie Franklin Reynolds of Samson, AL passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. He was 81 years old.


 Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Wes Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions made to one’s favorite charity in Charlie’s memory.


 Charlie was born in Coffee County, AL (Kinston) on March 24, 1943, to the late Jessie Frank and Era Elizabeth Stephens Reynolds. Charlie retired from the Alabama National Guard after 39 dedicated years. During this time, he was also an accomplished butcher in various retail meat departments. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially the grandchildren. He was famous for his love of fishing, hunting and cooking whatever he killed. Many times his family referred to his “creations” as Paw Paw’s “mystery meat”. You truly never knew what you might be eating. Charlie loved to laugh, tell jokes and “tall tales”, which earned him the nickname, “Lying Charlie”. Charlie enjoyed life to the fullest and loved being around people. He was truly a giant of a man, whom his close friends knew as “Big Red”.  


 In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 1 son, Dustan Reynolds: 2 brothers, Bill and Ben Reynolds and 1 sister, Ophelia Strickland.


 He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marcie Reynolds of Samson, AL; 4 daughters, Kelly Taylor (Dale) of Opp, AL, Elizabeth McCluskey (Jim), Amy Taylor (Wayne Warren) and Jennifer Loyed, all of Samson, AL; eleven grandchildren, Jeff Wilson (Shannon), Cam Wilson, Tyler Bowers (Tierra), Austin Bowers (Mickayla), BreAnna Gibbs, Savannah Baine (Stephen), DeAnna Gibbs, Seth Gibbs, Nicole Loyed, Chelsey Loyed and Aren Loyed; thirteen great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Monette Jackson of Florala, AL, Jeanette Zeller of Portland, OR and Mary Poppell of Florala, AL; 1 brother, Lloyd Reynolds (Gail) of Samson, AL and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
