CHARLOTTE McCORD CARPENTER
COLUMBIA. . .Charlotte McCord Carpenter, a resident of Columbia, died early Friday morning, May 23, 2014, at her home. She was 64.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 25, 2014, in the Camp Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to First Choice Hospice, Inc., P.O. Box 476, Elba, Alabama 36323.
Charlotte Carpenter was a native of Dothan and moved to Columbia as a teenager where she lived most of her lifetime. She was retired, due to disability, from Smith’s Tru Value Hardware in Columbia. Charlotte was preceded in death by her father, John Robert McCord, her mother, Gloria Ann Gleaton McCord, and a brother, John Robert McCord, II.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Curtis Leon Carpenter, Columbia; three daughters, Tammy Clark, Columbia; Tabitha Burger (Steve), Haleburg; Sandy Edmondson (Derek), Columbia; three sons, Lee Carpenter (Jenny), Dothan; Leon Carpenter (Nicole), Blakely, GA; and Michael Carpenter (Debbie), Headland; a sister, Theresa Kineard (Dennis), Savannah, GA; twenty-six grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be grandsons.
