CHESTER C. CALHOUN
HEADLAND, AL… Chester C. Calhoun, a resident of Extendicare Health and Rehab Center, formerly of Headland, Alabama, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at Extendicare Health and Rehab Center. He was 84.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, at Abbeville Memorial East Cemetery in Abbeville, Alabama with Reverend Norman C. Simmons and Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 A.M. until service time, at the cemetery. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Calhoun was born in the Screamer Community of Henry County, near Abbeville, Alabama, to the late Jack Dallas Calhoun and Lucille Hudspeth Calhoun. He was a graduate of the 1957 Class of Abbeville High School. He retired from the Walter F. George Dam and later retired as the County Administrator for Henry County, Alabama. He had previously lived in Abbeville, Alabama and Headland, Alabama before being moving to Extendicare Health & Rehab Center in Dothan, Alabama. He was a member of the First Baptist Church – Headland.
Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley K. Calhoun; his sister, Maggie Hayes; and his brother, Jimmy Scott Calhoun.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his daughters, Regina Lisenby (Bill) and Mandy Andrews (Matt); his son Arnold Walworth (Susan); his sisters, Peggy Wilson (Dan) and Mary Nolin; his grandchildren, Drew Harpe (Dee), Cory Harpe (Torri), Mary Beth Joseph (Josh), Melanie Sanders (Chris), Sam Walworth, Nate Andrews (Laney) and Eli Andrews; his six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
