Chief Master Sergeant Gary Leslie Foreman, USAF RET., a resident of Ashford, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 22, 2021. He was 74 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, May 28, 2021 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Goldsmith officiating. Military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Veterans Pavilion. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-5 pm on Friday.
Chief Foreman was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on February 23, 1947. He married Faye Bowden and together they have 3 children. Upon graduation from Brevard Junior College in June of 1968, he entered the United States Air Force on September 11, 1968 in Cocoa, Florida. After completing his basic training, he would travel extensively around the world, proudly serving tours from all across the United States to Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, and to England. Chief Foreman was always an active volunteer in his community, working over 200 hours during his off time at the Hill Aerospace Museum, he picked up and repaired items for the Panhandle Animal Welfare Shelter, and was the driving force behind the opening of the Eglin Airman’s Attic, earning him recognition as a 1998 Angel Award recipient.
Chief Foreman loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending every minute he could with them. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and always enjoyed spending time with his best friends Mike and Lisa Hughes. Chief Foreman was a tireless volunteer for his community, whether it was picking up cans along the roadway or repairing things, he never quit, always loving what he did.
Chief Foreman was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Violet and by his brother, Bill Medeiros.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Laura Faye Foreman; his children, Adria Plott, Jasen (Christan) Foreman, and Jesse (Olivia) Foreman; his 10 grandchildren, Cierra Leonard, Jordan Spencer, Blake Deitz, Xander Deitz, Alexis Foreman Stanford, Zane Foreman, Jessa Foreman, Emma Foreman, Jude Foreman, and Bennett Foreman; his 5 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Cheryl and Wanda; and several nieces and nephews.
