Chloe Faye Powell Stanford was born on February 4, 1933, to the late William Ellis and Ollie V. Powell at their home on Stephens Ferry Road in Samson, Al. She retired from Phillips Van Heusen in 1984 after 20 years of service as an executive secretary.
She liked traveling and visiting America’s National Parks with her family. She enjoyed seeing new places and meeting and making new friends around the world. While living in Japan she learned the art of Bonsai and shared her knowledge and interest with many friends. She also enjoyed flower arranging. Her main interest later in life was attending her grandchildren’s school activities. She was immensely proud of her granddaughter’s musical abilities and academic awards. As well as her ease of mastering multiple languages. Her grandson’s baseball skills brought many a smile and cheer to her and from her. She enjoyed visiting her siblings and their families as much as possible. She was extremely proud of her brother’s and her husband’s service during WWII and told everyone she met. She was extremely thrilled when her brother Wilford retired and moved back to the old Homeplace, where she could bug him only like a younger sister could.
Taking care of her family was priority #1 and she proved this by helping her parents and taking care of her sister. Dr. Hoyt Childs Sr ensured she received the medical training necessary to take care of her elder sister who was paralyzed after a car accident.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Raymond Curtis Stanford; son; Stewart Andrew Stanford; grandson; Benjamin Stanford White; brothers; Bill Powell, Wilford Powell; sister; Frances Powell and son-in-law; Col. Randall White.
Survived by her daughter: Stephanie Stanford White, Geneva, AL; granddaughter; Lauren E White, Geneva, AL; great-grandson; Hunter Paine; and sister Christine Powell; Saraland, AL.
