Christine Elmore Pennington Dickerson of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Flowers Hospital. She was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Eloise Pippin and Billy Gene Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 A.M. Saturday, March 24, 2012, with Funeral services following. Flowers will be accepted.
Mrs. Dickerson was born to the late T.J. (Tom) and Lindie Benefield Elmore on October 21, 1924. She lived in Houston County all her life. She loved life, fishing, gardening, and entertaining family and friends with her good food and homemade cakes. And she loved being a Pastor’s wife.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Lloyd Lee Pennington and Reverend William Doyle Dickerson, four brothers, and three sisters.
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Pennington Sorrells (M. Jones), one son, Danny Ray Dickerson, grandchildren, Pam Hamilton, David Sorrells, Michael Sorrells (Crystal), Derrik Dickerson, and Celeste Dickerson. She had six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Earline McLin, and several nephews and nieces who were all very special to her throughout her life. A very special friend and sister in the Lord, Reverend Eloise Pippin, and all the staff and friends at the Hartford Retirement Village who became her second family, and the staff at Flowers Hospital who gave her such loving care.
