We gather in loving memory of Christopher Sean Dixon, affectionately known as Chris to his family and friends. On March 17, 1996, MSGT(R) Richard Dixon and his wife, Lisa was blessed with a sweet baby boy in Gulfport, Mississippi. Chris’ tender and kindhearted presence graced this world until his peaceful passing on July 30, 2024. Chris’ family take comfort in the fact that he has been received into the arms of Jesus and now is rejoicing with his dear Mother. Chris spent his final days surrounded by the warmth of his loved ones in Midland City, Alabama.
Chris’s life was a testament to love and friendship, as he embodied the purest form of both. He was a sweet and precious soul, whose life was marked by the love he generously shared, often reminding those around him, "I love you." His open heart knew no bounds, and he never met a stranger, instantly welcoming all with his friendly demeanor.
Chris attended Gretchen Everhart School in Tallahassee, Florida. He had caring teachers and good friends. His best friend was Justin. Chris and his fellow students looked forward to their prom in high school. They enjoyed each other’s fancy clothes and dancing to the beat of the music. They had boundless energy and what a joy that was for all to see.
Chris always appreciated and loved his family and friends. He was happiest when they came to visit him. He absolutely delighted in his opportunities to go on field trips to their homes. He enjoyed playing games with his nephews and cousins and having their sing-a-longs. Christopher loved going to church, and in earlier years playing on his T-ball and baseball teams.
Chris took great pleasure in culinary delights such as Hardee’s sausage biscuits, Red Elephant’s pizza and cheese fries, Osaka’s and Mikata’s rice and chicken. Chris also enjoyed when he and his dad cooked meals together, especially his specialty of peach cobbler. He was a good gamer at Chuck E. Cheese and he was not one to pass up their pizza while gaming.
Christopher was preceded in death by his mother, Lisa Ann Dixon; his paternal grandparents, Frank & Sarah Dixon; His Maternal Grandfathers, Martin Harris & Wyatt Tartar; and his maternal great grandmother, Minnie Lee Powers (GiGi).
Christopher is survived by his father, Richard Oliver Dixon; his sister, Christina DeLille (Johnnathon); his maternal grandmother and caregiver, Shirley Tartar; his Godparents, Jim & Marilyn Holland; his special aunt, Evelyn Fields; his beloved nephews, Brandon, Jackson, Jude & James; his fishing buddy, Doug Parker; friends, Bebi, Harriett & Sabra Parker; his companion, Melissa Stephens; and his many loved relatives, friends & supporters.
Those who knew Chris were touched by his loving nature, his friendly spirit, and his unwavering kindness. His life was a reflection of the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Chris succeeded in his quiet way, making life easier and brighter for those around him.
A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, August 3, 2024 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Kevin Brannon officiating. Chris will be laid to rest in Tallahassee National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1-2 pm.
