HEADLAND. . .Christy Marie Nelson, a resident of Headland, died Monday, December 11, 2023, at her home. She was 45.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 18, 2023, in the Chapel of St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Christy Nelson was born and reared in Kinsey. She was a graduate of Houston County High School in Columbia and attended University of South Alabama where she majored in Criminal Psychology. Christy lived in Dothan most of her lifetime before moving to the Brown’s Crossroads community in Henry County in 2021. She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church. Christy was formerly employed by J C Penney, Belk Department Store and T J Maxx as a Department Manager. She was preceded in death by a son, Isaiah Steven Nelson.
Surviving relatives include a son, (Airman 1st Class, USAF), Christian James Simmons, Aviano Air Force Base, Italy; her parents, J W and Janice Barfield Nelson, Headland; a sister, Kelly Shifflett (Frank), Meridianville, AL; a brother, Steven Nelson; nieces and nephews, Haley Nelson, Ross Nelson, Madi Nelson, Kiera Nelson and Noah Nelson.
